PROLOGUE

This little book, JESUS GIVES PEACE, with its subtitle, JESUS IN THE Qur'an AND THE BIBLE, is a collection of themes from Jesus' life. These topics appealed to me because when I found them in the Qur'an, I realized the same subjects were covered in the Bible. Since the Qur'an does not arrange these themes chronologically, I have taken the liberty to arrange them in an order that roughly corresponds to the Bible accounts. Please note, however, I have made no effort to connect one topic to another and the book should not be read as if it were a biography or a novel. Each chapter is meant to convey a central fact about Jesus. Naturally, the truth in some chapters will have greater impact on one reader, while the themes in other chapters may be more significant to someone else. The accumulation of these facts should assist the reader in daring to ask a very important question.

I hope you will not read this book out of intellectual curiosity or scholarly pursuit, but rather as a spiritual pilgrim, searching into reality and the nature of things. Let your heart feel its own hunger. As a foreigner longs for a feeling of belonging and acceptance; as a thirsty man walking in the desert sun cries out for water; as a little youngster cries out until his mother offers her breast; do not be content until your heart feels a question forming deep inside of you. Puzzle over it, question your questioning, until at last you are able to articulate it in your own words.

After you have found the victory of asking the essential question, leave no stone unturned until you have found the answer.

Who will answer your question? The same One who enabled you to ask is He who will give you an answer. I believe His name is Jesus.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)
